Everyone knows that the Dutch bought Manhattan for the bargain basement price of $24. Or did they? This exhibit told the story of the early Dutch settlers and their relationship with the Lenape natives, and examined how Manhattan’s myth of origin developed and why it remains part of the American popular imagination.
