Wildlife Refuge

City View Park

Virginia Beach, Virginia

Commissioned by The City of Virginia Beach

2025

Wildlife Refuge is the Signature Sculpture at the entrance to a family park. It has six independent sculptural components: Lizard, Sea Grass, three Stepping Stone Lily Pads and a Giant Lily. Designed as a sculptural installation that families with young children can enjoy together, there are multiple seating areas for parents, integrated into colorful, organic sculptures, and many interactive experiences for kids.

The interactive components include hoops, arches, a seaweed noodle forest, hide-and-seek play, talk tubes, stepping stone lily pads, and a rather cuddly concrete lizard. The installation fills a 66-ft x 29-ft slab. Children and adults experience a range of activities as they travel from one sculptural experience to the next. The elements range from 10-ft H x 12-ft L x 8-ft W.
